NATS team designs futuristic eco friendly car prototype

It has almost become a tradition for the design students of the Nihon Automobile College to display their past years work at auto shows and other exhibits. And, this year too they are out with a prototype of their aluminum framed eco friendly future car. This car has already been crowned the winner of the ‘PDP Awards Andrea Pinninfarina’ design competition, organized by Think3, and, also it managed to grab a place at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Aluminum-framed Eco-friendly Future EV Prototype

The NATS team has worked tirelessly for many days at a stretch for developing the prototype of this compact two passenger electric sports car. Preparing the prototype of such cars from scratch can take a long time and requires huge amounts of money, therefore, to economize a bit, the student team fabricated the car based on the Honda Insight.

CAD software was used for designing this vehicle and it was through a comprehensive power analysis that the team fabricated its aluminum frame. The use of steel is widely known to all, but for making an eco friendly vehicle and for allowing students to explore more challenges in such development projects, the use of aluminum was advocated.

The maximum speed of the vehicle and its cruising capacity are not known as yet and soon driving tests will be conducted to further validate the vehicle’s authenticity. Till then, you can enjoy admiring the blue beauty and keep speculating about the betterments that will be incorporated some time soon.
