Vortex deploys solar powered ATMs in India

As we all know, India is witnessing a strong solar push. The maximum use of solar energy not only cuts down our dependency on the conventional power supply mechanism, but also saves the environment and the human health from harmful emissions. Vortex has come up with an innovative plan of developing solar powered ATMs. Solar power is a perfect match for ATMs as they easily tap solar energy and above all this plan will also allow the ATMs to function during power loss.

Grammateller

Vortex Engineering, a chennai based company, manufactures automated teller machines and recently in collaboration with Chennai’s Institute of technology, has developed these solar powered ATMs dubbed ‘Gramateller,’ which will hand out money to people living in a small village in Tamil Nadu. This particular project will not only provide the best possible solution to reduce the use of energy in the city, but will also be far more power competent as compared to the traditional ATM machines, as it uses only ten percent of the energy required by the usual machines. As a result of its low power design it emits little heat and will be able to function efficiently both in the extreme heat of summer as well as in the cool of winter.

As of now a total of four hundred and fifty Gramatellers have already been put up in the mainstream of small towns that are located a few kilometers away from the branch. The marketing manager of the company, plans to install another ten thousand of these ATM’s in the country in the next couple of years, and later will also try to install them in other countries across the world.
