Urban Jungle Redefined: Singapore to get a fresh new skyscraper thanks to WOHA Architects

Hotel Plaza Property could not have conceived something as spectacular as this when they decided they wanted a top notch new sky scraper in the heart of Singapore. While minimalists might not be very fond of integrating so much green into a building and compromising on the feel of modernity, it is an absolute delight to lovers of green architecture. WOHA Architects seem to have given a new meaning to the term ‘urban jungle’ as they have indeed woven a refreshing array of flora into the new proposed edifice set to take shape on Upper Pickering Street.

PARKROYAL on Pickering / WOHA

Singapore is already home to some of the best eco friendly and energy conscious skyscrapers on the planet. This new building will sport a plethora of green with several floors of vertical gardens and waterfalls that will treat its guests with green goodness. The green stretches into the vast blue of the skies as every floor is laced with green gardens, which regulate the internal temperature and ensure that energy consumed by cooling systems is kept to a minimum.

The garden design is created in a manner so as to provide the underneath parking space with natural lighting and eliminate the use of artificial light sources during daytime. The plant growth will also help purify the city air further and the rainwater that is collected from the upper floors of the building will water the wide array of plants in the vertical garden. The designers plan to grow a variety of flora that ranges from shrubs and bushes to tall trees and creepers that will showcase Singapore’s biodiversity. The artificial valleys and waterfalls created will give you a feeling that you are close to nature’s goodness and might even entice you to take a trip to one of the many forests in Singapore.
