Steampunk Solar Nightlight: Daft reuse of materials to light up your interiors

It is the simplest things in life that give us the greatest joy. It is also the simplest solutions that solve the biggest problems. Of course, once the solution is known, it always sounds simple. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle might sound pretty simple to follow, but if everyone would practice it, then we would not be living in a world where we would face a shortage of land for dumping our trash. Here though is your chance to reuse, recycle and turn to alternate energy; all at the same time.

Miss Betsy's Rechargable Steampunk Solar Nightlight

This little Nightlight is simple to build and is a fine idea for many who have old and discarded solar lamps lying around. Even if you do not have one, you can get started with an LED light fixture, a small photovoltaic panel and the right materials that offer a ‘Steampunk’ look. The design of the solar lamp here is according to convenience and taste of its designer, but you can alter it and even add a unique design element of your choice to make it more personal.

And as an added touch, put in a Light Dependant Resistor (LDR) that will automatically switch on the nightlight the moment it gets too dark inside. Putting it together is not all that complicated and if you have the basic knowledge of how electronic components work, then it is pretty simple. Add in a rechargeable battery so that you can charge it up by the day and use it at night, when it will have maximum utility. Ideally, you would want to put the PV panels on top to get the maximum charge. So give it a try and you might as well surprise the world with your own design.
