Solar powered Fenway Center project to begin soon with the court’s nod

A U.S. land court has put an end for the long legal obstacle over the construction of the $450 million Fenway Center housing complex project over the Massachusetts Turnpike. The massive structure, a Meredith Management project, will be a sustainable one including a solar powered neighborhood and many more. This project has been delayed for three years in response to the filing by one of its neighbors, HRPT Medical Buildings Realty Trust, which claimed that the building would infringe on its property.

Making his verdict over the issue, a Massachusetts Land Court Judge Harry Grossman dismissed HRPT’s claim and permitted the Fenway Center developers to go on with the project. In its suit, HRPT claimed that the Boston regulators approved the Fenway project failing to consider its appeal over the project’s infringement on its property. But, the land court Judge stated that HRPT couldn’t prove its argument over Boston Zoning Commission’s approval of the Fenway Center project.

The massive structure will contain hundreds of apartments, stores and offices. It will be built on land between Brookline Avenue and Beacon Street near Fenway Park, Massachusetts with dazzling view from both ends. John Rosenthal, founder of the Newton, Massachusetts-based Meredith Management developers says the construction of Fenway Center will start by the end of this year or early next year.

The project will be completed in two phases. In the first phase, 60,000 sq ft of retail space, 420 luxury apartments and a separate parking garage will be built up. In the second stage, a 13-story apartment and other structures will be raised. The entire project will be complete by early 2015, Rosenthal says. Some important parts of the structure including a parking garage and a seven-story building will be elevated on top of a deck, which is to be constructed over the Massachusetts Turnpike.
