Plastic, though not environmentally friendly, is an integral part of the society today day to day lives. Lightweight and unbreakable soft drink bottles are the most commonly used. Plastic recycling involves the practice of recuperating waste plastic and reprocessing the material into other useful products. Producing novel products from recycled material consumes less energy as compared to making products from raw material. To show its work for the environment, sportswear merchant Nike has unveiled Netherland’s innovative National Team Kit, which has been made using recycled plastic.
Nike came out with the topmost innovations for this summer’s Olympic Games. The soccer jerseys made entirely out of recycled plastic material are one of the most eco friendly sportswear till date and they also keep up with the brand’s assurance of making uniforms that will be comfortably designed for better athletic performance and most importantly will have the least impact on the environment.
Approximately 13 recycled plastic bottles are utilized in making each kit, which weighs 23 percent less than those used for these games four years ago. Predominantly the entrenched Nike Dri Fit technology functions to remove sweat from the body of the players on the pitch keeping them dry and cool and hence regulating their temperatures. Apart from this these jerseys also highlight the ingenuity and skill of the famous Dutch artists of the seventeenth century and also celebrate the potential of the present Dutch team with the help of a graphic “Nieuwe Meesters.” Nike has also selected eight masters of art who are all known in their respective fields and are supporters of the Dutch national team.
The world today is in need of products that are green and help save scarce resources, while also ensuring that they don’t end up in the landfill adding to the waste problem. Nike’s innovation here is not only easy on the players but is also good for the environment as it is making use of recycled material.
