Japanese artist creates miniature NYC subway station with paper

Art has no limits and we’ve already seen hundreds of stunning creations from brilliant minds all over the world, and here we are again with another striking piece of art that has been conceived and implemented by Japanese paper artist Terada Mokei. Terada has developed a model of a busy New York City subway station at a 1:100 scale using nothing more than paper.

Miniature paper NYC subway

Dubbed, the “1/100 Architectural Model Accessories Series No.6 New York”, the design requirements are cut into sheets and are then glued into the correct place for that 3D effect. The entire design is thought as a functional piece of art that may be developed in the context of any architectural model, to enhance the environment of the potential building. Similar designs can also be created as miniature models of the biggest metropolitan zones to grace your home’s interiors.

The striking design here features a collection of animals ranging from squirrels to dogs and also features the typical setting of the subway station that includes food stalls, pedestrians, cyclists and even a cop on a horseback. The designer’s attention of even minute details is what makes this artwork different. Apart from the typical hustle and bustle in a subway station, the designer hasn’t even missed small items such as bicycles, trash bins, barricades and even some individuals who might be just passing by.
On the other hand, the simple modeling done by the designers, which doesn’t include fine details is also very resourceful and definitely complements the scale at which the designer has been working.
