How to make your home a better place to live

A home holds a sacred place in our lives. It is not merely a house, but a place away from the daily grind where we find peace. Pollution and resultant destruction begins at home. That is why, if you think your home as a mini model of our large eco-system, you can make it green, functional and more fun. All you need to do is to adopt following simple habits.

  • All of us know the importance of fresh air as it contains the life supporting oxygen gas. Air pollution has become a serious problem these days. Pollution is not only confined to outside our home, but it also is built inside. This inside pollution can be reduced by planting plants like boston fern, golden pathos, bamboo palm, rubber plant, peace lily, English ivy, wax begonia, dendrobium orchids, etc, which act as natural air filters. They will not only reduce the pollution, but also make your place beautiful.

  • By following the three Rs i.e. “Reuse, Recycle and Remodel”, you can surely avoid wastage of money and save the depletion of your environment as well. This includes using material such as wood for furniture from destroyed barn that can be recycled. Getting useful raw material from damaged articles also helps in making your home look unique.

  • Water is the most important natural resource on our planet; hence, it we should use it carefully.  Avoiding unnecessary dripping of water from taps and faucets, closing the tap when not in use, installing low-flow toilets and using drought resistant grass in gardens will surely reduce your daily water consumption.

  • Your bedroom is place meant for relaxation and not for getting yourself indulged in gadgets and television. Scientists have proved through researches that, using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices before sleep may have a disruptive effect on your best sleep resulting in sleeplessness. In addition, the use of devices, such as tablets, laptops and mobile phones, badly affects the body’s release of melatonin. This leads to restlessness.

The decision to go green and maintain harmony with nature by adopting environment friendly habits will lead you to a more meaningful and healthier life that will be appreciated by future generations. These simple yet very important changes in your lifestyle can give you a better living and a cleaner and safer future.
