California to gain new EV charging stations under NRG settlement

California boasts of being the leader in green technology and Electric vehicle usage in the country. The $120 million made from the settlement will be used to further enhance this claim. Governor Jerry Brown announced that 200 public fast charging stations will be installed across California using a part of this money. The remaining will be used to install wiring for 10,000 plug in units at 1,000 different spots in the State.

The decision to do this has made the makers of electric vehicles particularly happy as it breaks the age old vicious circle that comes with buying an EV. The new fast charging stations are expected to give your vehicle a range of 50 miles in around 15 minutes of charging. You can pay for this either on the go or on a subscription basis.
