PET bottles recycled to make stunning wall garden

People living in tight urban spaces often find the cleverest ways to get close to nature. It were these very people who invented the terrace garden and the same folks who still use window boxes to get a view o lush green from their windows that usually open up to reveal a view of the concrete jungle in the background. Urban gardeners have also given us the concept of indoor herb gardens and ways to incorporate indoor plants into the dรฉcor. The wall garden is also the creation of such nature enthusiasts who want to have a lot of plants in their proximity but just have the kind of floor/garden space to go about it the traditional way.

Even though wall gardens are nothing new, they have traditionally cost a fortune since those heavy planters filled with soil need to be propped up using hardcore hardware though Brazilian home makeover project called Home Sweet Home have found a way to do it for far less. Making over the exterior and interior walls of the house owned by the Roberts family in Brazil, the project used a whole lot of recycled PET bottles to create a wall garden that would be easily to maintain for the single mom and her two daughters living on a modest $200 monthly income.

Since the family could not afford a professional gardener and could not invest too much in caring for the garden, the makeover team used easy to maintain plants for the project. The PET bottles used in the project were sliced open from one side and half filled with potting soil. A single plant is grown in each of the bottle planters which are suspended vertically using strings. The final effect is simply stunning to say the least.
