Magical Island: A floating museum with green landscaping attributes

Till now we have witnessed a flurry of floating architectural concepts envisaged for some doomsday apocalypse from global warming effects. But beyond the scope of natural instigation, there can be some innovative conceptions just for the sake of unique architecture. And that is exactly what is proven by the so named Magical Island. Conceptualized as a ‘Comic and Animation Museum and Plaza’, this grandiose facility has been conceived to float on the White Horse Lake, in the city of Hangzhou in China.

THE MAGICAL ISLAND

Posing as a comprehensive landmark, the intrinsic allure of the endeavor lies in a rich user experience. Structurally, the expansive bearing of the museum comprises of fragmentary components with a non linear demeanor. Though, from a user’s perspective, all of these spatially defined zones would be connected by accessible paths.

But the main attraction of the whole project is obviously its perceived ‘floating’ nature. Envisaged as magnificent structure situated atop the lake surface, the fantastical scope alludes to those vivacious theme parks like Disney World. Moreover, in this case, the designers have decided to up the ante by incorporating some features that truly upholds the composition of water as an architectural element. For example, there would be special ramp that would take visitors to a fully underwater compartment. This gargantuan double storied area will consist of giant screens, along with large view points of the lake. In fact, the displays will be used for various animations and comics expositions from around the world.

The fascinating play of light, water and landscaping will be continued on the upper floors. And finally coming to the roofing, the architects have thought of a complete turf consisting of trees and green boardwalks. So, as a whole, the Magical Island insinuates an ethereal architectural experience where imagination clashes wholesomely with innovation.
