American automaker Ford Motors is to kick off a special Transit van program to help out rental and commercial fleet owners reduce fuel costs and carbon footprints. The company is to spread out its new line of fuel efficient technologies like hybrid, plug in hybrid, electric, CNG, EcoBoost and others to bring down the costs and carbon emissions of fleet owners.
Raising fuel cost is always a menace for fleet owners. It largely affects profitability of their business. And since the regular customers are quickly turning to electric and other fuel efficient options, fleet owners can no longer attract customers only with the old gasoline models. It is here Ford’s new program will come in assistance of the fleet owners, who in future will get many of the company’s award winning fuel efficient technologies for reduced costs.
The company will roll out more transit vans with its famous 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 engine and other options including pure EVs. As per the company, the new line of transit vehicles will ultimately bring 25 percent fuel price cut for owners when compared to the current fleet vehicles. That means commercial fleet owners, governments and other tourist outfits can run their fleets for reduced fuel costs and earn more profits.
In order to address the issue of growing carbon emissions, Ford has introduced a special tool that will help fleet owners take better decisions. Called the Vehicle Emissions and Fuel Cost Calculator, the tool will let car owners check their current annual carbon emission rate. The calculator will give a clear idea for fleet owners on the emission levels of various new vehicles as well. There is also an option for consumers to compare the fuel costs and carbon footprint levels of a line of cars.
