Electree City: An arboreal object that harnesses solar energy

Full-Scale Solar Trees

Ever increasing population and the craze to move towards cities has diminished the nature’s green carpet. Metropolises have become a site of tall buildings and there is concrete all around. Trees have been cut down to erect modern structures, hence reducing the green cover. Vivien Muller understood the importance of trees in cities and came up with the Electree City, which will be a perfect fit for urban jungles.

The designer fetched heavy inspiration from his beautiful surroundings to come up with this environmentally-friendly concept, which looks like a metal tree. It has a very pleasant and attention-grabbing outline, which will blend perfectly with the city atmosphere. The arboreal object will make good use of the solar power technology as it will come wedged with solar panels that will harness energy from the sun.

The metal tree is 15 feet tall and has protruding branches that have been fitted with square plates. The plates represent leaves and have been caked with solar panels. The plates have been placed in such a way on each smooth and flexible branch that they face towards the sky. Such a placement of leaf-like structures makes sure that they get drenched with the rays of sun and trap solar energy. The energy is further used to power streetlights and other public systems that too in an eco-friendly way.

Electree City is an awesome concept, which will make the most of natural resources. The full scale solar tree has an interesting shape and will give an all new meaning to lighting up streets and public places.
