Eco friendly public Wi Fi is powered by dog poo

In most of the urban places it’s a very common fashion or habitual practice by people to move around along with their beloved dogs. You mostly observe this in community public spots, such as parks railway stations and similar other places where naturally a lot of people flock around. But the most absurd problem arises when these people just don’t care about when their pet animals excrete solid waste in the public places. Sometimes this problem can get really problematic and becomes a concern for the hygiene of the whole place. So now a genius initiative is round the corner to motivate those people who don’t care about this. The whole idea is to provide free Wi-Fi data in exchange of the valuable waste just released by your dog.

Free public Wi-Fi powered by dog poo

Terra, a Mexican internet service provider has come up with this novel idea. They have installed poo weighing machines in some popular public places, such as local parks. The magic is that as more poo gets accumulated there, the more amounts of Wi-Fi data can be accessed by the people in the surrounding location. The internal mechanism weighs the waste dumped in there and accordingly more free time is added to the clock, which means access of free internet data for more time.

DDB, an ad agency has even produced a video ad, showing the whole thing in a very hilarious yet informative way. It depicts the working of the system and at the same time shows some Mexican streets disgustingly littered with dog poo and some funny charts showing how much Wi-Fi data can actually be availed using these amount of dog poo.

The people involved in this project are hopeful that, the idea has the potential to go viral and similar such ideas can shape up in the future to make our cities cleaner, which are getting dirty and filthy with each passing day, mostly due to public ignorance. However the video doesn’t show what happen, when the containers to hold the poo get filled up. But we can expect that, they have some eco friendly solution to properly dispose it off at the end.
