Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) Strongly Advocates Clean and Green City
Los Angeles, while a beautiful city, is plagued with the worst air quality. As a matter of fact, some areas have a huge pollution problem. This has led to illnesses brought about by pollution such as respiratory-related diseases. Fortunately. The local government of Los Angeles is strongly advocating a clean-up drive campaign through the joint efforts of the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (the DCBID) and DTLA Works campaign to attract new generation of businesses. The main goal is to achieve an eco-friendly environment not only in downtown Los Angeles but in the rest of the city.

The Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of people in Downtown LA, especially the downtown center. What is DCBID? It is a coalition of about 2,000 property owners in the downtown center who are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and productive community particularly for businesses, residents, and visitors.
The Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) is actively taking part in maintaining a safe and clean environment because it strongly believes that safety and cleanliness are the foundation of a vibrant community. The members of the DCBID team provide essential services that aim to improve the community’s cleanliness, safety, and overall appeal.
There are simple yet effective ways to promote the cleanliness of the downtown district. The ultimate goal is to make the downtown district of LA a hospital destination for everyone. These include the following:
- Regularly emptying the trash bins
- Making the sidewalks more appealing to passersby by keeping them clean through power washing
- Maintaining the overall clean and polished look of the district
There is a dedicated clean team and each member of the team plays an essential role in maintaining the overall cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of the Los Angeles downtown district. What makes DCBID even more appealing is that it made sure that the members of the clean team are those with high regard for their work.
The members have contracted through Chrysalis; a non-profit organization that offers transitional employment to people who are homeless or those economically-challenged. The organization supports people’s professional development by means of giving them the resources, support, and training they need to find the right employment.
The challenges faced by DCBID
While the intention of keeping downtown Los Angeles as orderly and neat as possible, there are many challenges that the project and the entire organization itself face. For one, it is a tough job keeping the Los Angeles district clean. It does require cooperation and commitment not only for the DCBID team but most importantly for the people of Loa Angeles. The team can only do so much but the core is to really get the cooperation of the entire population. If everyone DTLA works hand in hand to keep the district clean, then there is really no reason for Los Angeles to not be the city of angels in the literal and figurative sense of the word.
