Creativity in Revamping the Kitchen with Recycled Junk

There are so many creative things that you can do around the house by incorporating a few of your antique pieces that are lying around listlessly in the garage and are awaiting their fate in the dump yard.  Old wooden doors and old dressers made out of solid wood can actually be recycled and transformed into a chic modern kitchen cupboard.  The green revolution is here to stay and a lot of people are looking for ways to incorporate old junk and give it a new lease of life- and the kitchen would perhaps be the best place to start.  Think out of the box and bring out creative ideas for using old junk in your modern kitchen and giving it a futuristic appeal.

The kitchen is perhaps the ‘most utilized’ area of the house, and it should be perfect, apart from looking stylish and spacious.  The kitchen has become multifunctional as you can cook food in it, serve food in it and even eat atop the little kitchen island.  Hence, a kitchen that is exceptionally well-constructed is a great possession.  So, why not give it a personal touch by incorporating some of your old possessions that you do not wish to part with and think of creative ways to use them.

The kitchen island, the most used table, can be recreated by using an old wooden door for the table top.  The door might seem to be an unattractive option, but the strong wood can easily be chipped and polished to recreate an attractive countertop.  You could even paint it in sync with the kitchen colors to give it consistency.  If the wood looks a little drab, then you could use some recycled glass to cover the wood and perch two classy stool tops to give it a new look.

Old pots and pans, particularly those made out of copper and brass can be used as a kitchen sink.  For all you know, your kitchen renovation might just end up costing you much less that what you expected.

If you have nothing significant lying about the house, then still maintain your green quest and purchase recycled glass countertops which would give a luxurious look.  Another thing to watch out for is glass tiles which are made out of recycled matter and can further be recycled.  They are cheaper and very attractive as they come in a range of colors.  If you are keen on aluminum countertops, then definitely go in for the recycled aluminum countertops that would give it a very modern look.
