Windmill goes bladeless!

bladeless windmill2

Here is a windmill without blades. With more and more birds dying, being hurt and cut by windmill blades, the Mekaro Akita Co. has developed a windmill that uses cylinders replacing propeller blades. And, this windmill amazingly generate power efficiently.

Each of these five cylinders, replacing the blades is 10-meter-in-diameter. To produce sufficient lift necessary for spinning all of them in a circular motion, all these cylinders rotate individually, hence producing electricity. To turn the cylinders initially, an electrical unit is attached. Thus, this model can serve the nature both ways – by harnessing wind power and getting friendly to the flying creatures like birds and bats.
