Eco Factor: Low-emission car to be powered by a hybrid engine.
Toyota’s diminutive Scion iQ is being reported to commence its Stateside journey, first to the Detroit Auto Show and then to a Scion dealer near you as a hybrid. The vehicle will come with some more variants and probably a changed name as well.
The vehicle is expected to first arrive as a five-door hatch, followed by a four-door sedan version and reportedly as a three-door hatch variant as well. The first five-door will show up on streets by the end of 2011. Engine variants will also be offered, which includes a 1.3-liter four-banger that will produce about 93hp.
The initial hybrid version is expected to sell for about $15,000. The other variants can include a 1.5-liter engine supplemented by an electric motor to produce between 100 and 120hp and return about 60mpg.
