Solartaxi — a solar-powered three-wheeled electric vehicle is being readied to trip round-the-world form June 2007. It’s designer Swiss adventurer Louis Palmer’s intention of the tour is to educate and aware people about global warming and what can be done to help it.

For 30% of the energy required to power the three-wheeler, solar panels are to be added with another 60% of it to be supplied by PV panels on the roof of Palmer’s house. It would be fed into the grid, and will eventually help offset electricity generation using fossil fuels.

Certified solar power generation farms will be providing the remaining 10% of the sun’s power to the vehicle. Looking like a pint-sized Lamborghini Gallardo, the environment-friendly vehicle can currently run approximately 200 km (124 miles) on a single charge!

It has also proved to climb an elevation of 16,000 meters uphill with speeds of up to 60 kph (37 mph). Not just that! To provide you with comfort and entertainment while riding, its interior will feature leather seats and an MP3 sound system.
