The small Seoul village of Sungmisan in Mapo-gu, is growing big with building responsibilities towards the environmental causes. Debuted with turning food waste into compost using worms and bacteria, it is now exploring other ways to make the town eco-friendly.
Interestingly and innovatively, the small village is venturing into going car-free! As its first step, the city will adopt a car-sharing system, Wonderful Worms’ Society director, Lee Myong-hee informed.
But, for successfully supporting the car sharing system the government needs to construct public parking lots, reducing the number of cars parked on the streets. And this would demand a big amount of funds! But, the government seems to be optimistic and indefatigable with its view to make the village environment-friendly.
