It is tough to water the greenhouse uphill, Ashland farmer Dan Kuebler possesses. To irrigate his farm, Dan needs to pump water uphill from the pond. That is sure to consume a lot of energy – electricity. He intelligently plans to install a solar-powered water pump to do all the watering uphill through pipes.
Very few of Missouri farmers use such an ecofriendly alternative energy-based technology to water their greenhouses. Dan will soon install the machineries, after getting a grant from the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program. With this installation, he will effectively use solar power to irrigate his farmland, sustaining his crops.
Dan Kuebler said,
I’ve always been aware of the sun’s power, and I’ve always wanted to use it in some part of my life.
