Eco Factor: Eco town to offer high quality, sustainable homes for greener lifestyle.

Thought the reduction in government funding for the eco-town may have come as a setback for the Mid-Cornwall project, but it hasn’t wiped away their enthusiasm and hopes of developing a green city. The consortium behind the project conducted a competition for exemplar housing and received as many as 58 entries.

Out of them six schemes have been selected that include the designs of Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Panter Hudspith, Jerry Tate Architects, Poynton Bradbury Winter Coles Architects, Richards Partington Architects and Trewin Design Partnership. Due to the £220 million funding shortfall, the Mid-Cornwall Clay Country eco-town will take a little longer to shape into reality, but Eco-Bos is positive about pushing forward with the project.

There are hopes that once the eco-town erects it will create opportunity for people to live in high quality, sustainable places. The other three eco-towns in the UK are 6,000 home Whitehall Bordon in Hampshire being planned by Aceom, eco-town at Rackheath in Norfolk by LSI Architects and last but certainly not the least 5,500-home eco-town at North West Bicester, Oxfordshire planned by Farrells.
