When something is eco friendly and also free, it’s bound to hit it off fantastically. Of course, pedal-powered cars are not a new idea but then this fleet of pedal-powered EcoCabs that is supposed to hit the downtown Toronto core from May 1st is sponsored. So the ride to your close-to-home-office or nearby mall is going to be absolutely free. About 28 of these ultra modern looking cabs will ply faster than the average speed of downtown traffic, running up to 12 kilometers an hour. So if you live there then you too can flag down an eco cab for a free ride. But only for a short distance of 6 to12 blocks. These human-powered cabs will run primarily on the pedal-power of the driver but when its time to go up the slope, a rechargeable electric battery will assist. And the free ride is courtesy corporate sponsors like Lipton Green Tea. They have also introduced the idea of providing riders with a free glass of green tea with their ride.
