God has provided us with an absolutely free source of energy, but it is up to us to make the best of it. He never intended to make us splurge our earnings on the escalating bills. And that exactly what some Mr. Sila Sutharat from Thailand has realized. He has made the optimum use of this blessing of God and is utilizing sun’s heat to not run a car nor charge his gadgets but to roast a chicken! With soaring fuel prices and temperatures, Sila Sutharat’s solar cooked chicken is a great hit. Selling at a roadside in Phetchaburi town, 90 km southwest of Bangkok, he has even managed to catch the attention of a team of Japanese researchers who are keen to learn his cooking techniques. And if you think that only scientist and ecologist can think of something like this then you better clear your thoughts as Sila was inspired to build the roaster by memories of his childhood when he would play outdoors with a magnifying glass. Didn’t we all do that? Then why couldn’t we think of some thing like this to earn a daily wage and also make it to the news worldwide. And so he has managed to make the sun roast a 1.6-kg chicken in 10 minutes and on cloudy days, it takes double the time. Not bad at all! Roasting an average of 50 chickens each morning and selling them for 160 baht (about $5) each, this guy has every reason to beam with every sun rise.
Sun cooked roasted Chicken couldn’t have got any cheaper and yummier
