renewable energy powered greenhouse New York has constantly been coming up with some brilliant ideas for protecting the planet. Going green has now become the latest trend. Who would have thought you could have a greenhouse on wheels. With spring having arrived, lots of regional vegetables will also come along, but this time in a more eco-friendly way. Nick Runkle and his business associate Justin Cutter, dwellers at Fort Green (NY), seem to be the current duo planning on satisfying the residents of New York. How? Well they shall be providing New York residents with delicious sustainable regional veggies. ‘Compass Green’ was established by the duo, a greenhouse on wheels, it is an 18-foot diesel box truck. The products would be provided to schools in Manhattan and Brooklyn and then most likely throughout the whole country. The ambulatory greenhouse is known to help the students attain some education about mini ecosystems. Compass Green shall be a full-fledged operating, portable greenhouse which will run entirely on used vegetable oil, powered by solar and wind energy. Plenty of sunshine will reach the plants as the truck’s sides will be substituted for Plexiglas windows. The Compass Green shall be exposed at the ‘Fort Greene Greenmarket’, maybe next month or thereafter. At the moment the duo is trying to raise money get supporters. Until now, they got 280 supporters, will in turn thank their generosity with an exclusive dinner made from the fresh green-foods which will be grown in the truck itself. The duo has surely invented an interesting technology, which is hopefully for everyones betterment. (Via: Inhabitat)
