Green architecture is the in-thing in r\today’s world and if you happen to be a designer, then you better get down to your green basics and start revising them quickly. The design spectrum for green structures is really widening with growing global concern in energy saving and emission-free designs. This is no longer just a ecologically sound venture, but it makes even great economic sense as it attracts plenty of attention from both domestic and global media. Irrespective of the primary motive, it is still wonderful that the environment is benefiting from all this; even if that is by default.

There is going to be a spectacular addition to the list of green structures in Europe as a set of zero-carbon floating buildings has been chosen by RIBA as the winning design for the visitor center at the new Brock holes Wetland and Woodland Nature Reserve in Preston, northern England. Designed by Adam Khan, this green marvel will be on a floating island and is most likely going to be a zero-emission, self-powered venture in course of time. The design sports of buildings made of low embodied energy materials such as thatch, willow and timber, drawing on the heritage of wetland dwellings and embodying a sustainable agenda.
