Eco Factor: Nairobi 2030 Metropolitan Spatial Plan ensures ecological balance with sustainable development.
UK based firm Austin Smith Lord together with its Kenyan partners Saad Yahya & Associates and engineering firm Mott Macdonald have proposed a revised master plan for the Nairobi 2030 Metropolitan Region. Since the last master plan revised in 1970 the city has experienced phenomenal growth that has largely been unchecked and unplanned.
The proposal visualizes a greater Nairobi that flourishes on an environmental plan which ensures ecological balance, and also supports new technology and clean energy initiatives for sustainable development. The scheme guarantees inclusivity and strengthening of existing towns and communities by improving their quality of life.
The city’s regeneration plan ensures easy and fast connectivity through new and improved transport infrastructure. At the same time it helps capitalize on the areas unique natural resources to promote establishment of commercial hubs that sustain economic growth and provide employment.
