Eco Factor: High speed maglev train to be ready in three years.
China is trying to break all train speed records by developing a maglev “vactrain” that will travel at a nerve-wracking speed of 1000kph. The laboratory at Southwest Jiaotong University has claimed that a team of researchers is working on a prototype that will travel at an average speed of 600kph and a smaller model train that will be able to travel at 1000kph will be developed within three years.
The train will travel in a vacuum tube that enables greater velocity due to decreased friction. The setup will cost about $2.95 million for each kilometer.
