Museum of Troy at Çanakkale aims to minimize energy consumption

Museum of Troy

If you have ever wondered about how the was life at Troy and what all were the associated features with this civilization, here is your chance to have a real experience of being in Troy. This is made possible by RTA-Office in collaboration with Dome Partners. The lines of the structure remind you of Troy’s original geometry. The basic idea behind this creation is not only to provide information about Troy but also to provide a lively experience to the visitors.

The history comes alive from the moment you enter the museum. After parking your car, you will be directed towards the main building through a passage consisting of small groups of olive trees. There is a wooden umbrella structure under which the building events program. The interior consists of an open area and a large square (which is open to the exterior) from where you have the access to the children playing area and the bar buffet. There is a ramp in front of the central area, which leads you to the exhibition area. There is an archaeological research zone beautifully excavated from the ground and at a distance of three meters below the access level to the space of exhibition. There is a permanent as well as a temporary exhibition space and at the end of these, there is an auditorium and a bar. The restaurant is another remarkable beauty of this structure and it has an exterior terrace built over a large water platform in which you find reflection of the olive groves as well as the areas for recreational purposes. There is adequate space available for conducting meetings and conferences with ease.

The most stunning feature is the continuous inter-communication of the interior and the exterior spaces. This inter-communication results in the penetration of the natural light in the building so that a suitable environment is created inside the museum for working purposes. This structure also boasts of its environmental friendliness as only wood is being used in its creation, thus leaving no possibility of CO2 emissions. The construction of space in three dimensions and the comfortable working environment along with a perfect blend of culture and technology, make this structure the first choice for travelers from all across the world. In order to get the building certified as “green” by the Green Building Council, New York, the creditors of the museum are doing their best to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
