Michigan Tech builds Bio-Diesel Generators to save a year’s $.5 million of power consumption!

half million a year 9The Michigan Tech plans to save half million dollars of power during peak usage periods next year by turning off power from UPPCO then! But, then where from will it supplement the needed power from? — biodiesel generators.

The Tech will soon build a power supply backup from four bio-diesel generators. The Tech officials expect to use the backup generators for about 100 hours a year, saving half a million dollars. These backups would also be used during emergencies if ever the power goes out on campus.

It is on January 1, 2007 that the Michigan Tech will go online.
