Marco Florindez: Nothing is junk to this brilliant artist!

“I try to make the most of materials that others usually discard. Nothing is junk – I can use everything. This takes me back to my childhood when my imagination could transform a stone into a truck.” This is what Marco Florindez says when talking about his art and I suppose it is as accurate description of it as one can get. Marco is an amazing artist but beyond that he is every environmentalists delight in the fact that he creates masterpieces from what is classified as utterly useless trash. Cold Metal is his specialty, but he can create something useful out of almost anything deemed useless.

I guess in his work ethics, he is the exact opposite of someone like George Bush who could find a way to create something useless out of anything primarily useful. But let’s not go there. Marco was born in Chachapoyas in 1978 and soon moved to the big cities to pursue his dream. For his works Marco uses almost everything that one can use to create art and even more. His work is an intricate intertwining of precision in spatial geometry and sheer oozing class. It is an amalgamation of art, science and eco-friendly designs.

He says that he tries to make each of his designs simple but attractive and innovative. The great Spanish architect Calatrava is the man he looks up to for both inspiration and encouragement. He likes to put aero-spatial details into my work, and also use Inca iconography. There is no confusing one of his works with anyone else’s across the planet with the amount of detail put in to it. Recycled art is not just eco-friendly but with people; I mean geniuses, like Marco Florindez it has become an absolute rave. Everyone these days loves to own a sculpture in cold metal and that is a tribute to those who have made it so popular.
