Lawns That Never Need Mowing!

lawn no more needs mowing

All love possessing a lash of greenery in the backyard. But, what stops is the thought of maintaining or mowing it. But, imagine a lawn that stays the same without needing to mow! No, not trying to fantasize. That’s the goal of a new research at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies.

Scientists here have mapped a hormone-signaling pathway to regulate plant height. With this method, rice, wheat, corn, soybean crops, as well as grass can be kept sturdier. Not only this, from the environmental point of view, this will lead to zero-consumption of energy needed to mow.

Joanne Chory, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator at the Salk Institute said,

By manipulating the steroid pathway … we think we can regulate plant stature and yield.
