Negev plans a solar power plant for itself. In cooperation with private companies headed by former defense establishment officials, the Israeli government will built the plant.

This plant will take atleast two and half years to complete. Once it starts generating electricity, it will be capable of providing 50 percent of the country’s consumption of power within 15 years.

Promoted by Vice Premier Shimon Peres, it is a revolutionary project for Israel. The station will be located near the Jordanian border. It will be supplying energy to the neighboring Kingdom as well. The initiative also drew great interest from King Abdullah.
