It is all happening in the east of Algona. Future bean-crop seeds are to be planted in some fields there, where soybeans now dominate that will one day produce bio-diesel. A few clumps of dry soil flying off golden-colored shovels Tuesday evening gave a formal start to the facility that will be the biggest bio-diesel plant in Iowa, and perhaps, the nation.
The biggest bio-diesel plant in Iowa, and perhaps, the nation is inaugurated Tuesday evening. The plant will be capable of producing 60 million gallons of bio-diesel a year. The state will be enjoying the production in late 2007.
