Eco Factor: Hyundai’s FCEV Fuel Cell car to launch in 2012.

Earlier this year Toyota announced that the company will be selling a $50,000 fuel-cell car by the year 2015. Now, Hyundai is trying to overtake Toyota by announcing that its hydrogen fuel cell powered FCEV will ship three years earlier. The company’s FCEV Fuel Cell car will be launched in 2012.

With a plan to sell 1000 units in 2013, the company already claims to sell 10,000 units by 2015, when Toyota will only have made its first delivers. The technology Hyundai will use for the hydrogen tanks has not yet been revealed, but the announcement will definitely make some Toyota engineers pull up their socks.
