Giant Rubber Snake to be the future of wave energy!

Wave energy is something that is vastly and constantly available and is still something that is way under-used across the planet. Solar energy has taken off and broken away from the rest of the industry and has emerged as the undisputable leader in the industry of renewable energy. But that has had the negative effect of some other alternative energy to be ignored and that is probably pretty natural. Wave energy and tidal energy are being explored and various new gadgets are floating around to make use of their immense power.

Now a giant snake might be the answer to utilizing wave energy to the fullest! A giant rubber snake could be the future of renewable energy. The rippling “Anaconda” produces electricity as it is squeezed by passing waves. Its developers say it would produce more energy than existing wave-energy devices and be cheaper to maintain. Created by a retired physicist Francis Farley and Rod Rainey this structure streams out in the waves like a windsock pushed by the wind.

It’s not a solid structure like an oil platform and it doesn’t behave like a boat either. A full-scale device should produce 1 megawatt of energy. They are still testing the structure so as to see if it can withstand the rough and testing conditions of the oceans. One hopes that the snakes will pass the test and take over the world oceans very soon!
