Today, Fujitsu Siemens uncovered the first zero-watt monitor (20-inch P20W-5 ECO and the 22-inch P22W-5 ECO) in standby mode. Unlike the other LCD’s in the world where the monitors use 4-10 watts or more in standby mode, this one uses nothing! When the monitor powers down, it triggers the power supply to totally disconnect from the main switch, saving tremendous amount of power. Research across Europe proves that stand-by power accounts for about 10 percent of the electricity use in homes and offices. Also the monitors include DisplayView AutoBright option which automatically adjusts the brightness in harmony with the normal light, offering power savings and also causes less strain to the eye. In case the need for maximum brightness arises, the new units reach an impressive 300 cd/m2. These eco monitors also do not shrivel the display (1680 x 1050 pixels) size. Future plans include the launch of 24 & 26 inch models.
