Flash memory card holder made out of vending cups!

Plastic is one material that has made its way in to every aspect of our life. It is hard not to marvel at this ‘necessary evil’ as it seems to have attained a status of being irreplaceable. While I have always held by the statement that the usage of plastic must be avoided, if possible totally, this seems an almost impossible task for all practical reasons. One of the main reasons why plastic has so easily infiltrated in to every production industry is due to its immaculate ability to offer literally whatever the user needs. Couple this magic property with the comparatively cheap cost of production & it forms a lethal combination of great economic importance.

I guess when organic chemists first came up with the ‘never-ending catenation property of carbon’ they would have been thrilled to bits. But not all went to plan as plastic never really was a part of nature & never could become so. The next best thing after not using plastic is recycling. By recycling plastic, we are at least keeping it away from being a part of the waste & stopping ourselves from using more plastic.

Designer Tom Kenworthy has come up with a Sustainable Flash Memory Card Holder that is made from recycled vending cups. If one looks at the design, it is quite unbelievable indeed. A single holder requires seven plastic cups to construct. With the tons of cards that are available & are being used, this makes for a nice way to keep them all at one place. It moreover helps you make the world a bit cleaner, even if it is in a tiny little way.
