Eco Factor: Suntech Power Holdings to develop four solar plants in China.

Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd has announced that they’ve reached agreements to develop four solar power plants in China, which collectively will generate 1.8GW of green power for the country. The plants will be developed in Shaanxi and Qinghai provinces of China. The Shaanxi plant will generate 300MW and three plants, each capable of generating 500MW of solar power, will be built in Qinghai.

The company claims that the plants are still in their infancy and the final construction will depend on the permits the company has to obtain from the National Development and Reform Commission. Apart from generating green power for the one of the world’s most polluting countries, the solar deal is also expected to do wonders for the company during the recession period.
