The fast paced world of today will definitely need an even faster car to commute in the future. When futuristic cars are the question, designers try out their skills to design vehicles that won’t pollute, but won’t make your daily commute sluggish as well. Mayeul Walser, a Transport Design student at CREAPOLE-ESDI in Paris, has been working on a car which could offer the speed of a sports car with the emissions of a bicycle for the streets of Russia.

Mayeul’s ingenuity has helped him design a sports car for the future, which is aimed toward the Lotus brand. The Lotus Esquive, as the car has been named, has been designed as a mild off-roader, which is unlike all other Lotus products that are made specifically for on-road travel. The car’s windscreen and roof panels can be removed to let in natural light and also transform the car into a 21st-century sports buggy.

One of the traits that the design gets after carefully studying the cars developed by Lotus, the designer has tried to make the car as lightweight as possible to better its handling. Mayeul has tried to integrate a carbon fiber chassis, which offers unmatched strength at a very light weight, and to even better its handling the body panels of the car have been made from fiberglass.

The 4WD vehicle will carry four electric motors on each of its wheels, which collectively will generate a total of 260 hp (190 kW). Driving the front wheels are a pair of 55 hp (40kW) motors, while at the rear a duo of 75 hp (55kW) motors power the back wheels. The car will also carry four-wheel steering to even better its handling and be easy on the driver who wants it to be a true off-roader.
