EcoFactor: A home that is built out of half a million empty embalming fluid bottles, which was put together by a former undertaker.

Funerals are not really a place where you would start a conversation about recycling, but more and more people seem to be thinking about dying green. Green coffins and green cremation services are gaining popularity across the world. But being an undertaker for 35 years and then building a home out of embalming fluid bottles that you used and collected is a whole different thing. David H. Brown was an undertaker for 35 long years, and after his retirement in 1952 he started going across Canada collecting embalming bottle fluids from his friends in the business.

Brown collected a total of half a million bottles, including the ones he had over his long service. He put together this glass house with those 250 tons of embalming fluid bottles and the whole thing turned out to be quite a crown puller. This is not just one of the best examples of recycling glass, but also the weirdest!

The Dark Side:

So what is the “Dark Side” to a story that deals with death, embalming bottles and recycling glass? Not much, apart from the fact that you would not really want to play baseball anywhere near this home.
