EcoFactor:
The new Powertrain ensures that the range of Tesla is extended 244 miles from its previous 221 miles for the same charge.

The Tesla Electric Roadster is one car that is the dream of many who wish to have a sizzling hot roadster with the performance and features that only Tesla can offer. The car has a wonderful electric engine that gives a range of 221 miles in its existing state. Tesla, though, has decided to rev that up a notch by asking BorgWarner to produce the new Roadster 1-speed transmission. This would increase the torque of the existing engine by 30% and would extend its range by 10%. This is good news not just for auto enthusiasts but also for eco-heads, as it means that the car can go longer with the same charge as earlier.

Tesla also promised that they would upgrade for free the cars of the customers who have already bought the Tesla with the first version of power-transmission. Considering only 27 Tesla’s have been delivered so far, that is not much of a task either.

The Dark Side:

The Tesla Electric Roadster still has a long way to go before going completely green. While the new range extension is really cool, hopefully Tesla will recycle the old engines without discarding those 27 completely and adding to the waste.
