Eco Factor: Hammer designed to be powered by solar energy.

Diamonds are often touted to be a girl’s best friends. Friends or not, the mining process isn’t as friendly to the earth and the ecosystem. Designer Besty Alwin knows that diamonds will continue to lure the masses and as a result mining will get on to become an even greater threat to the ecosystem.

The designer has come up with a small solution – a solar-powered hammer that is on display at the Ace of Diamond Mine in Middleville. While the solar-powered device won’t counter the mining threat on the ecosystem, it definitely will ensure that the energy that usually goes for searching the perfect piece isn’t of a human but actually comes from a practically infinite source – the sun.

The exclusive hammer is made from found items and carries a solar-powered motor that makes the hammer rise and drop with a bang producing the maximum impact. The idea seems simple and can be put to use on even bigger and more energy-intensive applications that are common in a mine.
