Eco Factor: Teens construct solar-powered wooden homes for the homeless.

Humanity and eco-consciousness is what we have to learn from a group of students from Seminole Vocational Education Center. The students learned carpentry and electrician skills under a construction program offered in the center and wanted to utilize their knowledge to help others. In order to fulfill their desire the young environmentalist joined hands with Pinellas Hope and Catholic Charities to build solar-powered shelters for the homeless.

The 40 students developed six wooden houses that were equipped with roof solar panels, which can provide enough electricity to run a light and fan. These young students reached the construction site at 7:30 a.m. each day and completed six eco-homes in just 8 days. Isn’t it great to have such a noble effort coming in from those who are our future.
