Eco Factor: Electric two-wheeled concept car.
The growth in population and the dearth of available space has tempted car designers to design small cars, which do not depend on fossil fuels, but use other renewable sources of energy. Keeping the requirements of the future in mind, Daniel Scotland has come up with an egg-shaped car that he intends to develop for popular car brand Peugeot.
Daniel states that his main focus was to develop a personal urban transport for the future, keeping the space and fuel constraints in mind. The end result was an egg-shaped colorful compact car that runs on two big colored wheels. The car, which looks like more of a fashion accessory, will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, which will provide energy to the electric motors incorporated in both wheels.
The driver won’t find a conventional steering wheel inside this small car, as it will be maneuvered by a joystick-like device that is placed in front of the armrests. It also uses drive-by-wire technology to free up interior space. Daniel believes that one day such cars will become the only form of transport to travel in and around the city. He also states that such a concept would change the perception of city vehicle driving by making it more desirable and practical for those who go about their day-to-day lives in the urban environment.
The Dark Side:
Apart from some safety concerns, we are worried about the unavailability of a third balancing wheel on the car. This missing wheel would mean that the car would have to carry more weight on the front, which not only will change the design of this car, but will also decrease its efficiency.
