Eco Factor: Water conserving washbowl from Nimbus.

These are the days of global crisis, not just the economic crisis, but fuel crisis, energy crisis and above all, water crisis. With the water reserves going down with every passing day and not enough water to replenish the stocks, the world requires every individual to save as much water as possible. A couple of days ago we saw the fish toilet, which assured water savings by using some cistern space for fish. Here is another water saving device for your washrooms. Developed by Nimbus, this washbowl consumes 60% less water than your old washbowl.

Unlike taps, this Nimbus’ product uses ultra small drops of water spray for washing hands that preserves about 60% water. The secret to this technology is the use of infrared sensors. Whenever a user puts his/her hands in the washbowl, the sensors come into action and spray only a few milliliters of water, which according to the company is all that you need to wash your hands in this bowl.

The Dark Side:

Apart from water saving we don’t really see any other eco credentials in this design. The washbowl makes use of infrared sensors, which of course will run on not-so-ecofriendly electricity. Since these sensors will always remain connected to the power socket, we don’t really think that many people would be interested in increasing their electricity bills for saving water.
