Eco Factor: Energy saving device saves 12% electricity.

This is an era of computer technology, be it a coffee machine or a jet plane, everything is controlled and run by computers both onboard and remote. Apart from giving us a high-tech feel, these machines have proved to be a disaster for the environment over the years. Running in standby modes, these machines use more electricity than they use in running useful applications.

Trickle Star has announced a new energy saving device to combat standby energy wastage by powering down all peripherals attached to a computer, once no one is using them. The company has stated that their new device is the world’s first device that can save up to 12% electricity. The device is connected to a PC via a USB port enabling it to scan the computer’s power usage in real time. The device is further connected to all peripherals attached to the system. On powering down the system or when the system enters standby mode, the device automatically powers down all peripherals attached to it. The company further claims that this device can save up to $50 or 100KWh per year.

The Dark Side:

If the company is able to keep the cost of this device under control, we don’t see any reason why all computer users around the world should not opt for this.
