Eco Factor: Sanyo launches two new electric-assist bikes.
Sanyo Electric Co. has extended its “Eneloop” line of electric bikes with the addition of two new models to the “Eneloop” bike lineup, the CY-SPK227 and CY-SPJ220 electric hybrid bicycles, which will initially be launched in Japan. The first model is a sports-type featuring the world’s first carbon composite frame, while the second model is designed for urban living with an elegant look and the ability to fold it into a compact size for storage.
Sanyo first launched the Eneloop bike in February 2009. This lineup of electric hybrid bicycles features a “Two-Wheel Drive System” where power is applied to both the front and back wheels, and a “Loop Charge Function” that recharges the battery during downhill coasting and deceleration, by switching the electric motor to a dynamo (regenerative charging).
