The model looks to capitalize on the strong public sentiment directed in favor of zero-emissions and zero-carbon vehicles that are quickly gaining ground and popularity in the US markets.
Giving a driving range of 100+ miles, the model will demo the company’s proprietary technology for SUVs with the latest 100% electric offering aims at bypassing the subcompact, compact, or small EV segment instead presenting the public with a vehicle type that most Americans are familiar and comfortable with. Since the greatest percent of the car-buying public in the US prefers to drive and buy SUVs, an electric SUV would the most natural replacement for the gas-propelled variants.
The 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) to be held in January 2012 in Detroit will be the venue where AMP will unveil this groundbreaking EV officially. The company will also offer the public the chance to test drive the new electric SUV at the event. With a 100% electric Mercedes Benz ML model also in the works at the company’s new Ohio-based production facility, the emerging EV market in the country would certainly get a welcome shot in the arm from the launch of the AMP electric SUV.
