The ‘Frisian Nuon Solar Challenge’ boat race, scheduled to get started on Monday, is facing a hindrance from the weather. Supposed to be powered exclusively by solar panels, the northwest Netherlands is veiled with cloud, accompanied with a light drizzle, the boats’ powering energy is challenged.
More than 20 teams converged here to participate in this unique race. The participants are from Europe and the United States. The solar powered boats are supposed to navigate a 140-mile course of lakes, rivers and creeks.
